Puglia + Basilicata

an unforgettable yoga, cultural & gastronomic journey

October 5 - 12, 2019

Nights 1 - 4

Nights 4 - 7

We'll be staying at Il Convento di Santa Maria di Constantinopoli, a former convent turned small luxury retreat and the private home of Lady Athena MacAlpine. The property exudes romance, charm, and character, including fine antiques and a world class art and textile collection.

We'll practice Iyengar yoga daily with master teacher Roni Brissette, we'll relax by the lovely pool and gardens, we'll explore the surrounding towns. We'll walk the beautiful countryside and swim in warm ocean water. We'll talk, we'll laugh, and sip wine by the fire. We'll enjoy incredible gourmet meals prepared by our own private chef with the freshest local ingredients, and the wines that made the region famous. It's a unique opportunity to nourish your body, your belly and your soul.

As hard as it will be to tear ourselves away from the warm embrace of the Convento, we will, to head north to otherworldly Matera, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and the European Cultural Capital 2019. With its iconic cave dwellings (‘sassi’) that date back to the 10th Millennium BC, Matera is one of the oldest continually inhabited places on Earth. And it is, quite simply, stunning—in fact, it subbed for Jerusalem in several films. We will stay in the luxe Sextantio Albergo Difuso, a luxury hotel itself carved out of caves. We will practice yoga daily, explore Matera and nearby Martina Franca and Alberobello (with its unique, white cone-shaped dwellings). We’ll enjoy great meals, good conversation and much laughter.
